DateTimeItem: custom format for 12 hour times

Hello,

I would like to use a custom format for the DateTimeItem. We need to read the month/day/year and the time in 12 hour format (am/pm). In GWT DateTimeFormat, this would be in formatting pattern: "MM/dd/yyyy hh:mm a"

I looked at the SmartGWT showcase but the samples used 24 hour format.

If someone could provide a code snippet that would be nice. Thanks in advance for your time.
