Keep MenuItem "selected"

MenuItems apply "menuOver" class - but is it possible to keep MenuItem "selected" so that when user clicks on a MenuItem and then next time expands menu button - the previously clicked MenuItem is still highlighted?

I figured this out by tracking the selected item and setting customStyle for new selected item and resetting customStyle of previous selected item to null
