ListGrid.setLongEditorThreshold doesn't work

I have 2 problems with ListGrid.setLongEditorThreshold:

1. in what units do I specify the length?
2. I never get a text area editor, not matter what value I specify

I use GWT 2.0.3 and SmartGWT 2.1
