SmartGWT 3.1d 05/02/2012 nightly
3 different computers: FF 8 Win 7, FF 11 Win XP SP3, FF 12 Mac OS X Lion
While working on the Firefox bottom border missing issue, I noticed that the text is not perfectly centered vertically in Firefox (compared to Chrome or IE). So, I extended the same test application that I used for the previous issue to demonstrate the problem. The application is available at:
http://testbuttonborder.appspot.com/
Just so that we don't confuse the two issues, I've verified that the vertical text centering issue exists in the Showcase also (I didn't really have to create an application to demonstrate it). I've attached 3 screenshots below, and one of them is from the Showcase.
I tried from 4 computers and the issue was reproducible on all of them.
Again the problem is only on FF (not on Chrome or IE).
I've also created couple screenshot - one from FF, and one from Chrome - to show the difference.
In the screenshot, I have put 2 buttons side by side to demonstrate the difference. If you look at the Firefox screenshot, on the left button, I've manually added a 1px padding-bottom (using Firebug). The right button has the original look. As you can see, the text on the left button is perfectly centered, but on the right button, it appears slightly on the lower side.
The Chrome screenshot shows the original state of the buttons (no tampering). The vertical centering of text on Chrome is perfect, and so is the case with IE.
Let me know if you need any other information from my side. Sorry, but I'm not trying to nit pick. By nature, it is disconcerting to me when things are not perfectly aligned.
Thanks.
