Canvas.animateHide(AnimateShowEffect effect) missing

With Canvas.animateShow(AnimateShowEffect effect) a left-to-right appearance configuration is possible.
However, the reverse is not available because of the lack of Canvas.animateHide(AnimateShowEffect effect).
Note: I found old forum articles which suggest there was such a method sometime...
