ESC saves editing in grid with active grouping

I use old 4.1 but I can reproduce the same in 12.

How to reproduce:
1. Go to Showcase https://www.smartclient.com/smartgwt...id_editing_row
2. Start to edit "China" value,
3. then press ESC,
4. changes are lost.
so far so good
5. Right click on Continent header and select "Group by Continent"
6. repeat step 2-3
7. After ESC changes are saved

I can reproduce - but changes are not saved for me, instead they appear as blue (pending).

OK, maybe not "saved" in this showcase example but ESC works in different way with grouping and without. I think it should work the same way.
