SMARTGWT 3.1 very slow in Development Mode

    Hello Isomorphic,

I just wanted to switch from SMART GWT 3.0 (latest patch release) to 3.1 (latest patch release) and experienced serious performance problems in the Development Mode (running with the GWT Maven plugin as well as with the GWT Eclipse plugin).

Apparently, after searching the forums, I've found several threads dealing with this or similar problems.
For example, there seems to be a problem with the Canvas.getMember(s) method, see: http://forums.smartclient.com/showthread.php?t=23159
And with the Canvas.getChildren method, see: http://forums.smartclient.com/showthread.php?t=22945

Therefore my question: Will this Development Mode problem be addressed in 3.1 with a new patch release or the upcoming 4.0 release? Because, as it is now, SMART GWT 3.1 is not usable for us and we can't upgrade our SMART GWT version to use the new features.

    Best regards,
    Henry

This was addressed a long time ago, there's no performance issues related to those methods now. You are either using an I patched build (see SmartClient.com/builds) or you have some new, unrelated issue, in which case you should try to isolate it to a reproducible case.

      Hello Isomorphic,

I'm using the patch build of Smart GWT 3.1 from monday (28th of January 2013) from http://www.smartclient.com/builds/SmartGWT/3.1p/LGPL. Is it not correct to use the latest patch version?

The release version of 3.1 has the same performance issues for me.

      Any suggestions?

      Best regards,
      Henry
