IPickTreeItem doesn't update in latest nightly

I'm using the 04/25 nightly build of 4.0d Power Edition. The IPickTreeItem doesn't seem to update it's display value when the value changes. I've used the sample code from the showcase:

No matter which value I choose - I still get the empty message: "Choose a value".
