Alas Out of Process Host Mode is been postponed but Emma coverage is very interesting for us.

Yes, GWT 1.6M2 is supported. Read the SmartGWT 1.0b2 release notes.

I tried it and it worked great. The only problem I had was that the Enterprise skin could not be found so I copied the sc folder into the war directory and then everthing worked.

You don't need to manually copy anything. Make sure you're inheriting the Enterprise module.
