LiveGrid: GWTRpcDataSource vs RestDataSource

Does LiveGrid work only with RestDataSource? Is there any way to make it work with GWTRpcDataSource?

Thanks .. Strawman, if you don't mind can you post the source code for the GWTRpcDataSource (maybe just the fetch method) that you are using. I am specifically interested in how you manage the start row, end row and record count.
