Empty message for filter pick list

Is it possible to have an empty message for a select item in a pick list?

The pick list can be empty because it is dependent on another filter field.

Yes, when this happens, ListGrid.emptyMessage (from the picklist's superclass) is shown. You can configure it via pickListProperties.
