Selenium performance on IE and Firefox

We are using the latest smartclient libs.

We found that selenium's performance on IE is much slower than in Firefox.

It usuallt takes 5 times on IE.

So, just wondering if this is releated to smartclient or it is selenium which does not support IE very well.

I have experienced this issue. For running 100 instances of the same basic field validation test with permuting data, each test takes between 2-4 seconds in Firefox and 20-60 in IE.

I wonder if this is related to the JavaScript engine inside IE being inferior to Firefox? I have not tried in Chrome, but this could provide some insight.
