Showcase audit examples aren't working

I want to evaluate this feature:
http://www.smartclient.com/#FSauditing
http://www.smartclient.com/#auditing

however when I click an item on either page, I get a dialog with the message:
"DataSource 'audit_supplyItemAudited', operationType 'fetch', operationId 'audit_supplyItemAudited_fetch'. No authenticated user"

Am I using these examples incorrectly?
