Current grid group state or Event for expand or collapse of grid group

Hi there, I am trying to determine what a grid's current group state is and whether any nodes have been expanded or collapsed by the user. How can I determine that? Alternatively, is there an event that would tell me when a user has expanded or collapsed a group so that we can maintain the state ourselves?
