12.1 showcase doesn't load in IE 8

Hello, I've just noticed that the 12.1 showcase doesn't load in IE 8

SmartClient Version: SNAPSHOT_v12.1d_2019-06-14/AllModules Development Only (built 2019-06-14)

Does it load if you specify a non- CSS3-only skin (ie, not one of Tahoe, Obsidian, Stratus) in the URL?
