Yes, for now, it's roughly just a declarative variation of customSelectClause, but because it's declarative, there are a bunch of things we can do with this: provide an editor for it in Reify, calculate it client-side, etc.

Hi Isomorphic,

it seems that since 14.0 there is DataSourceField.formula. Is this just a declarative way so that one has not to use customSelectClause in some cases? Or does it also have other advantages?

Also, the Reference docs linked above make it look like there should be a "formula" attribute in ds.xml DataSourceField docs, but this does not exist/is not visible in the docs.
