replacement for GWT Dev Mode?

What is the recommended replacement for the GWT Dev Mode, as now none of the officially supported Firefox or Chrome versions can use the GWT Dev Mode Plugin?
The GWT Plugin does not work with Chrome 38, Firefox 33 or Firefox 31.1.2 ESR, as far I know.
The Super Dev Mode is still an experimental feature.
Using older versions of the browser is not always an option, due to security concerns.

Some of the official GWT website docs are fairly old, but Super Dev Mode should no longer be experimental and is the suggested replacement for Dev Mode.
