Feature suggestion: Auto-save for TextAreaItems

It's an interesting idea, but at least at the TextArea level, feel more like something the browser should do., not SmartClient.

If we were to do it, we would do it at whole-form and/or DataSource level - basically preventing unsaved edits from ever being lost, and offering UIs to recover lost edits at the whole-component level, in grids and forms.

If you're interested in a feature like that, it would be a valid Feature Sponsorship.

Hi Isomorphic,

using Jira I had an idea for a TextAreaItem enhancement.
For the Built-In saved search you are already using browser storage.

How about auto-saving text in a TextAreaItem (and perhaps even TextItem?) under a key that identifies DataSource+PK+Fieldname?
Then, if someone navigates away and back you could offer to restore the previously entered text.
Of course one needs to be able to enable/disable this, the text needs to be cleared after a successful save, ...
