Help needed in ListGrid sort

Hi,
I have list grid records like:
col1 col2 col3
Machine1 … …
Machine2 … …
Machine3 … …
and so on…

Im using client side sorting. When i try to sort the records like these using first column, it is sorting like Machine1,Machine10,Machine11 … Machine19, Machine2, Machine20 etc… ie., it is performing String sorting on the column.
But i need to sort first column like, Machine1,Machine2, Machine3 etc…

How can i override the existing sort() functionality for my listGrid as no sort method in ListGrid is taking record as argument? Please anyone help me in this regard.

Yah. Got it. setSortNormalizer will do the same what i needed, there i customized my field return value, instead of String returning last digit.
