how visualize multi dimensional tables

i am developing some kind of statistical reporting app. and this includes visualizing “multidimensional” tables (in other words: tables that include many tables)
an example:

---------------------------------kind of building
------------------------------big | small | tiny

year of construction
—before 1900
—1900 - 1902
—after 1902

number of appartments
—1
—2
—3-9
—10 and more

how to do this with smart gwt (didn’t found an example in showcase)

Use the CubeGrid component.

i can’t see how the grid met my requirement. the showcase example has 1 Dimension in column 0 “region”. but in my case i have many dimensions in column 0 “year of construction”, “number of apartments”.

the only chance to get this done with grid cub is imho by using one cube per dimension in column0 (but with one header row for all).

does cube grid supports such tables? the next problem is - cube grid is only available with commercial license of smart gwt isn’t it? at the moment (prototyping phase this isn’t an option for me) - probably i reconsider licensing smartGWT after prototyping (the project is big enough to justify such an investent)

For prototyping i first try to get a handcrafted table. is there an analogon to FlexTable in SmartGWT? Or how to integrate FlexTable in SmartGWT(Canvas) - i don’t get Layout to work (FlexTablegetColumnFormatter().setWidth() is beeing ignored if it is child of smartgwt canvas)

As shown in the sample, the grid supports multiple dimensions per side, as well as “tree facets” which allow dimensions that might otherwise be represented independently to be collapsed into a since hierarchical dimension.

Take a second look, and if you still think there’s a limitation, explain it in detail.

For prototyping, use the free commercial evaluation. We definitely will not be able to help you recreate the cube as a raw table (waste of time when we already have a cube component) but we can answer questions about the cube.

thx for hint to evaluation edition! (the download seem to be a great package to get started with smart gwt)
