We seem to be cross-posting, sorry about that.

Let us know if you have any issues in updating to 5.1. If you encounter issues that make it difficult to move forward with 5.1, we'd be happy to backport changes as needed.

FYI, as you asked what I am trying to say using the words "major version": I am using your own terminology:
      http://blog.isomorphic.com/more-new-...grade-to-11-6/
"Major releases (e.g. SmartClient 11.0, Smart GWT 6.0) are paid upgrades. Minor releases (e.g. 11.1, 11.2, 11.x) are free with the major license."
So indeed they have some kind of special status, or am I wrong? As they are paid upgrades.

Anyway, I am trying to upgrade to 5.1 because of the change you mentioned in this thread and because, as you said, I don't want to ask every time you correct a bug if you can please change the "major version" 5.0 as well. So I will keep you updated if there are problems upgrading to the 5.1 version.

This aspect of the discussion has become a bit surreal, but yes, we use the phrase "major version" in the same way that it is used in the rest of the industry. Also, yes, upgrading to the next major version is what you pay for, and that gets you, for example, all 5.x versions.

However, we see no reason for putting special emphasis on supporting a version that happens to end in "0" when it has been obsoleted by later versions that are free. We've never set that expectation, and we've never seen another company operate that way. Indeed industry standard is to encourage users to use the latest stable version, and that's exactly what we do, as well.
